The speaker phone is the best available; the answering machine is average. I LOVE the technology, but this phone has some querks. If you like reading owners manuals (poorly translated into English), want the "most" advanced telephone available, and have a few extra $$$ to burn, buy this. By the way, the DECT phones do NOT have great range.much less than the 5.8 phone systems. I also bought the Panasonic KX-TG1033S Dect - which is much cheaper, less querky, and much lower in the high-tech area - might be a better choice for the people who don't want "querky".
It's not hard to keep clean, it comes with microfiber cloths to polish it (but a simple dusting does just fine). When you dial a number, you don't always get the strong "tone" of each number, but the calls always go through.
The range is terrific, the battery life--well, I can't kill it (and that's saying something)., the style and look of it is really nice and sleek. The ringtones are nice, the wallpapers are okay--not bad, not incredible--but the colors are nice and crisp, the screensaver clock is useful and clear--not to mention pretty cool. The sound quality is really nice--you can hear everything--every voice inflection--so if you are hyperintuitive like me, you'll hear even better when people are sad, happy, anxious, etc.
I bought this extra handset with the base unit and it's a great little phone. but I'll get used to that.
My daughter is hard of hearing and she can hear on this phone without turning up the volume to the maximum. It doesn't 'flash' to the second line very quickly, and you have to pause a couple of seconds before saying "hello" to your second line.
The speakerphone is amazing--very loud and clear.I like the phone. I recommend this one :)
As long as you own the base unit, this is the must have addition. No signal problems, no distortion, just clear, crisp voices. Again, Bravo Philips.
PHILIPS ID 9370B Enhanced High DefVoice Additional HandsetThe phone is great looking and light. Accessing missed calls and voicemails could be easier. The phone has a volume problem, not very loud no matter what ring tone you choose, and volume for hearing and talking could be a little louder. If this is a main phone and not near where you are, it will probably not get your attention.
I purchased the additional handset and baseset from different suppliers. I wish they could make something this good looking in a product that works. There is a red light on top of the handset that flashes when you miss a call or have a message on the answering machine, you don't know which it flashing for the missed call or the answering machine, the light flashes until you clear the call list. Call waiting to answer is awkward, you have to push two different buttons. I sent back my orginal baseset because it rang by itself in the night. If you want one that works properly buy something else. I reordered and the second baseset did the same thing. Both rang by themselves in the night. That is another issue.
Philips customer support has had several reports of this problem and there is no way to fix it. I had to return everything. Just some awkward issues with the setup. If you want a cool looking phone, buy it. I wish they could make a phone this good looking that works and is user friendly.
